Workshop to assess the national regulatory system for pharmaceutical products and vaccines

As part of efforts to develop the regulatory system of the pharmaceutical industry in Algeria, and on behalf of the Minister of Pharmaceutical Industry, Dr Wassim Kouidri, the Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Pharmaceutical Industry, Mr Fouad Ben Slimane, opened a self-assessment workshop on Monday 15 June 2025 covering the system in force for the production and marketing of medicines and vaccines, in the presence of the World Health Organization (WHO) representative in Algeria, Mr Vanuel Habimana, and the Director of the National Agency for Pharmaceutical Products, Dr Chérif DELIH.

The workshop brought together several World Health Organization experts, alongside representatives of the pharmaceutical industry and health sectors, as well as the competent national bodies such as the National Health Security Agency, the National Agency for Pharmaceutical Products, the Pasteur Institute and the National Centre for Pharmacovigilance and Materiovigilance.

The workshop aims to assess the national regulatory system for pharmaceutical products and vaccines, drawing on the global methodology adopted by the World Health Organization, as part of the drive to strengthen national capacities and improve the regulatory system's alignment with international standards.
