As part of the study day organised by the National People's Assembly on cancer in Algeria, "Realities and prospects of patient care", Dr Chérif DELIH, Director General of the National Agency for Pharmaceutical Products, spoke on Monday 11 February 2025, delivering a keynote address covering three important points concerning the pharmaceutical sector in Algeria.
In his address, Dr Chérif DELIH stressed the need to streamline pharmaceutical product registration procedures in order to ensure the availability of innovative medicines on the domestic market and to meet patients' needs promptly. He also underlined the importance of simplifying and accelerating registration procedures for medicines used in cancer treatment, so as to facilitate access to specialised therapies and improve patient care in this vital field.
Dr Chérif DELIH also addressed the simplified procedures for the local manufacture of medicines, including oncology medicines, with a view to strengthening domestic production and reducing dependence on imports, thereby consolidating national health security.
He stressed the need for coordination among all sector stakeholders to ensure the continued availability of medicines, particularly those intended for cancer treatment, with a focus on improving quality and fostering innovation in this field.
This participation is an important opportunity to exchange views and perspectives on improving health policies and strengthening care for cancer patients, in order to meet their growing needs in Algeria.
